Gilbert Half Marathon
The Gilbert Half Marathon is presented by the Shun the Sun Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on reducing skin cancer cases and deaths. The next scheduled race date is Saturday November 21, 2026. Since 2022 the event has been based in the Verde at Cooley Station development in Gilbert, Arizona, with the start and finish located at the same complex. A Post-Race Expo is held in the Verde at Cooley Station area, and local tenants open early and offer discounts to attendees.
The event includes three USATF certified courses, so performances can be used as official qualifiers or for national rankings.

The race began in Mesa, Arizona in 2009 and moved to Gilbert in 2014 as part of the Gilbert Days celebration. The 2026 race will be the 18th annual presentation by the organizing foundation.
Proceeds from the races fund the foundation's activities to educate about skin cancer causes, increase prevention by limiting overexposure to the sun, and promote the importance of early detection. Funds are also used to sponsor activities and events and to donate sunblock to youth groups. The event is partnered with Sole Sports.
