Gilbert Half Marathon
The Gilbert Half Marathon is an annual road race presented by the Shun the Sun Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non profit organization focused on reducing skin cancer through education, prevention and early detection. Proceeds from the event support foundation activities, including education, sponsored programs and donations of sunblock to youth groups.
The event has been held since 2009, originally in Mesa, Arizona, and moved to Gilbert in 2014 to coincide with the Gilbert Days celebration. Since 2022 the race has been based in the Verde at Cooley Station development, with the start and finish at the same complex. The event also features a post race expo at Verde at Cooley Station; tenants in the development open early and offer discounts to attendees and participants.
All three courses are USATF certified, allowing performances to be used as official qualifiers and to be considered for national ranking. The Gilbert Half Marathon works in partnership with Sole Sports. The next scheduled race date listed is Saturday November 21, 2026. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
