12th Annual Shark Run
The Shark Run is an established Independence Day sports event held in Orange Beach, Alabama. Taking place on July 4th at The Wharf, the event features several participation options for different interests and fitness levels. The gathering point for the festivities is the WHARF Convention Center located on Canal Road.
Participants can choose from three distinct event categories:
- 5 km Run
- 5 km Competitive Walk
- 1 mile Fun Run
The 5 km run and competitive walk are open to individual age group and open categories. All finishers in these events receive a medal upon completing their distance. The event includes custom age group awards, with categories organized in five-year increments for runners and ten-year increments for competitive walkers.
An awards party is held on the Alabama Gulf Coast following the completion of the races. Participants who register early are prioritized for specific event apparel, as the first 250 registrants are guaranteed a custom shirt in their requested size. Later registrants receive a shirt, though specific sizing and custom designs are subject to availability.
The event schedule includes opportunities for packet pick-up on the day prior to the race at the Sandshaker at the Wharf, as well as on the morning of the event on Main Street at the Wharf. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
