Emerald Coast Ultra
The Emerald Coast Ultra is a long-distance running event held along the Gulf Coast, spanning across two states. Participants start at Big Lagoon State Park in Pensacola, Florida, and travel west toward the finish line located at the Fort Morgan Historic Site in Alabama. The course features a variety of terrain including soft sand, coastal pavement, rolling bridges, and exposed causeways.
The route follows the Gulf shoreline, offering views of the water and local wildlife such as pelicans. The path transitions from areas with pine trees to open sections along the coast and stone fortifications at the finish. This event provides multiple distance options for individual runners and relay teams:
- 50 Miles: An individual ultra-distance race from Florida to Alabama.
- 50K: An individual ultra-distance course along the coastline.
- 50 Mile Relay: A team-based version of the 50-mile distance.
- 50K Relay: A team-based version of the 50-kilometer distance.
The course is designed with long, runnable sections that trace the edge of the emerald waters. Registration for the various categories remains open until the morning of the event. Participants finish their journey at a historic stone fortress situated where the land meets the Gulf of Mexico. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
