Mourne Mountain Marathon
The Mourne Mountain Marathon is a two-day endurance and navigation event held in the Mourne Mountains, Northern Ireland. The event takes place on 19th and 20th September 2026 and is contested by teams of two across several course categories. Courses cover a range of distances, typically between 35 km and 55 km over the two days. There is also a one-day Score class in which teams collect points over a six hour period.
For Elite, B, C and D classes the winner is the fastest team to visit a set number of control markers over the two days. Organisers describe distance and ascent guidelines as variable, depending on terrain, weather and competitor experience. Competitors camp overnight and are expected to be self-sufficient while on course.
Event facilities and services include SPORTident electronic timing, a flexible start window on day one, race T-shirt and car sticker for entrants, and refreshments at the end of day two. Prize categories are provided and sponsors include Mac in a Sac and Lila’s Outdoors.
