Settle Hills Race
The Settle Hills Race is run among limestone scenery above Settle and in 2026 it hosts the Yorkshire Senior and Under 23 Fell Running Championships. The course covers 11.3 km (7 miles) with approximately 600 m of ascent. Minimum age is 18 years.
The route begins with a steep uphill out of Settle, then eases before a steep climb onto rough ground above Attermire Scar. Runners follow flags over lumpy ground to the first checkpoint at Jubilee Cave, return to faster paths, then climb to High Hill on rough grassy trods. From the summit there is a very steep grassy descent to the second checkpoint and a water station at the road crossing. The final section follows a rough bridleway and fields back to the Rugby Club where refreshments are provided.
Much of the course is off public rights of way and crosses private land; livestock may be present so strictly no dogs. The race is run under FRA rules and competitors must carry the FRA statutory kit, although some relaxations may be made if weather permits. The route is fully flagged and marshalled and a map is provided free of charge.
Entries are open via SI Entries. Fees are listed as £10 for FRA members and £12 for non-FRA; entry on the day is £12 if the race limit has not been reached. Registration takes place at the North Ribblesdale Rugby Club. Free parking and toilets are available at the club and light refreshments will be served. Settle town centre is a short walk away and there are local campsites and bed and breakfast options for overnight stays. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
