Settle Hills Race
The Settle Hills Race takes place on limestone country above Settle and is Race 2 of the Yorkshire Dales Classics. The event will host the 2026 Yorkshire Senior and Under 23 Fell Running Championships. The course distance is 11.3 km / 7 miles with approximately 600 m of ascent. Minimum age is 18 years.
The route begins with a steep uphill section out of Settle, then climbs onto rough ground above Attermire Scar. Runners follow flags over uneven ground to the first checkpoint at Jubilee Cave, then run on faster paths before a grassy climb to High Hill. From the summit there is a very steep grassy descent to the second checkpoint and the road crossing water station. The return follows a rough bridleway and fields back to the North Ribblesdale Rugby Club where refreshments are available.
The race is run under FRA rules and entrants must carry the FRA statutory minimum kit; requirements may be relaxed if weather permits. The route is fully flagged and marshalled, and a map is provided free of charge. Much of the course crosses private land and is off public rights of way; livestock may be present so no dogs are permitted.
Practical details include free parking at the Rugby Club, toilet facilities and light refreshments in the club. Race registration is upstairs in the North Ribblesdale Rugby Club. Entry fees are listed as £10 for FRA members and £12 for non FRA members, with an on the day fee of £12 if the race limit has not been reached.
