Selkirk Standard Triathlon
The Selkirk Standard Triathlon is a part of the Live Borders Triathlon Series. Based at the Selkirk Leisure Centre, the event follows a standard distance format. Participants can enter as individuals or as part of a relay team. Separate registration categories are available for adults, participants aged 16-17, and families.
The event consists of three distinct disciplines:
- 1500m swim
- 40 km bike
- 10 km run
The competition begins with a pool-based swim at the Selkirk Leisure Centre. Swimmers are organized into waves based on their submitted estimated swim times. The transition area is located in the car park directly adjacent to the pool facility.
The cycling leg departs from Selkirk and follows the A708 to General's Bridge. The route passes through the Bowhill estate toward Ettrickbridge End. This section includes a long climb known as the "swire," followed by a descent into the Yarrow valley. The final part of the bike course uses a fast section of the A708 to return to the transition area.
The run course is designed as a flat out-and-back route. It follows the river before joining the A7 toward Lindean and crosses the bridge over the River Tweed. Ample parking is provided for participants at the Leisure Centre. An official British Triathlon Race Pass is mandatory for those who do not have a home nation membership.
