Sea to Summit Triathlon
The Sea to Summit Triathlon is a multisport event that combines traditional triathlon elements with the style of an adventure race. Participants navigate a course that crosses multiple states, beginning with a swim and concluding with a climb up the highest peak in the Northeastern United States.
The event requires each athlete to have a support person, known as a porter, to assist them during the race. The course consists of the following disciplines:
- 1.2 mile swim
- 95 mile bike ride
- Run and climb to the summit of Mount Washington
This event is intended for experienced endurance athletes and has specific qualification requirements for individual entry. To qualify, participants must have completed a full 140.6 distance triathlon or a 70.3 distance triathlon. For the 70.3 distance, the athlete must have finished in the top 75% of their age group. Finish times must be faster than 14:15 for a full distance or 6:15 for a half distance, with the qualifying event occurring after January 1, 2021.
Pre-qualification is available for past finishers of the event from 2015 to 2025 who finished within the time limit. Athletes who have qualified for the Ironman World Championships within the last decade or those holding a professional card are also pre-qualified. Participants must be at least 18 years of age. Relay teams are also permitted, though they are subject to different qualification standards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
