Will to Run Challenge
The Will to Run Challenge is a weeklong event centered on a community running program and virtual options. It includes an in-person 5K in Kennebunk and virtual race options held during the event week from September 18 to September 25, 2026.
Distances offered:
- 5K in person
- 5K virtual
- 10K virtual
- 15K combined virtual (submit separate 5K and 10K times)
- Kid's virtual Challenge
Registration fees and included items vary by entry: the in-person 5K is listed at $35; virtual entries are $30 for the 5K, $40 for the 10K, and $50 for the 15K combined. The Kid's virtual Challenge is free. Pack contents range from event bibs and stickers to shirts, bags, and socks depending on the distance and registration.
The in-person 5K uses an out-and-back section of the Eastern Trail in Kennebunk. The trail surface is hard packed stone dust and is described as very flat. The route crosses the Maine Turnpike via the pedestrian bridge that spans the turnpike.
Event week includes multiple packet pick-up opportunities at local venues including Round Turn Distillery, Waterhouse Field, Banded Brewing in Biddeford, and a pick-up option in Portland. Policies for the in-person run note that strollers are prohibited, the use of personal music devices is discouraged for safety, and dogs are not permitted except service animals. Net proceeds support A Running Passion scholarship and community outreach initiatives. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
