Screaming Monkey - Keithville, Louisiana
Screaming Monkey takes place at Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, Louisiana, near a national chimpanzee sanctuary. The course is built around a 15.5 mile loop that passes close to the sanctuary, where primate vocalizations can be heard from sections of the trail.
The loop is about 75% single-track, 12% wide equestrian trails, under 11% small gravel and 2% road. The surface is moderately packed with roots and rocks and may include water depending on weather. Each loop has roughly 1100 feet of elevation gain and loss. Course distances use this loop for longer events.

Cutoff policies are in place: 50K and shorter have a 12 hour limit; the 100K has a 24 hour limit with lap requirements; the 100 mile event has a 34 hour total cutoff and lap start requirements. Pacers require race director consent, must register and sign a waiver, and are permitted after competitors complete two laps. Drop bags are allowed and available at the aid station accessed near mile 9 and mile 14. An aid station is also located at the start/finish and another near mile 5.
Free camping is available at the park for race weekend, with fire pits recommended and cleanup requested. Some RV pads are available under boondocking rules; RV campers should notify the race director by 11/01/26. A limited Chimp Haven tour is offered for up to 25 participants with partial refund if canceled due to weather.
