Screaming Monkey is a trail race held at Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, Louisiana, adjacent to a National Chimpanzee Sanctuary. The event offers multiple distance options and uses a 15.5 mile loop for longer distances that passes near the sanctuary.
The loop is roughly 75% single-track, 12% wide rolling equestrian trails, under 11% small gravel, and 2% road. The surface is moderately packed soil mixed with roots and rocks, with some water possible depending on weather. Each 15.5 mile loop has about 1,100 feet of elevation gain and loss and includes varied terrain from pine-straw-covered rolling red-clay hills to a ravine section.

Aid is provided at a start/finish location and at two on-course stations, with drop bag access noted at the on-course stations near mile 9 and mile 14. Pacers are allowed with registration and a signed waiver and are permitted after competitors complete two laps. Camping is available free at the park for race weekend and some RV pads are offered under boondocking rules; nearby hotels can be found using zip code 71106. Swag is distance tiered; by tradition runners completing 50K and farther receive a custom buckle. Registrations on or after 10/28/25 may not receive a shirt.
