Screaming Monkey - Keithville, Louisiana
Screaming Monkey takes place at Eddie D. Jones Park in Keithville, Louisiana on November 7, 2026. The event uses a 15.5-mile loop that runs near a national chimpanzee sanctuary; primates may be audible from sections of the trail. The loop is predominantly single-track with equestrian and small gravel sections, and includes pine-straw-covered hills, red-clay terrain, roots, rocks, and a ravine section. Each 15.5-mile loop features about 1050 feet of elevation gain and loss.

Course composition is roughly 75% single-track, 12% wide equestrian trails, about 11% small gravel, and 2% road. Aid stations include the start/finish area plus on-course stations near mile 5, mile 9 (drop bag access), and mile 14 (drop bag access). Drop bags are available at the mile 9 and mile 14 stations.
Cutoff rules: distances 50K and shorter have a 12-hour cutoff. The 100K has a 24-hour cutoff with required lap progress (on course for lap three by hour 12 and lap four by hour 17). The 100 miler has a 34-hour total cutoff; loop start deadlines are specified for later laps. Pacers are permitted by permission, must register and sign a waiver, and are allowed after two laps are completed.
Additional notes: the event includes camping at the park with fire-pit rules, limited RV pads (requests handled by the race staff by 11/01/26), medals for all distances, and custom buckles for 50K and longer. A Chimp Haven tour is planned at 1 pm for up to 25 participants and lasts about 2 to 3 hours; $75 of the tour cost is refundable if canceled due to weather.
