All Hands 5K and Fun Run
The All Hands 5K and Fun Run is a community running event held in Shreveport, Louisiana. The event takes place at the Deaf Action Center situated at 601 Jordan Street, which serves as both the start and finish point for the participants. This athletic gathering functions as a fundraising initiative to benefit the Betty and Leonard Phillips Deaf Action Center.
Participants can choose between two distinct distances:
- 3.1 Miles (5K)
- 1 Mile (Fun Run)
The 3.1 Miles course offers awards for the overall male and female winners, consisting of a cash prize and a medal. All participants in this category receive a participation medal. Recognition is also provided across several age groups, ranging from children aged 12 and under to seniors aged 70 and older. Participants in the 1 Mile distance receive a participation patch.
The course has specific safety regulations regarding equipment. Strollers, wagons, and baby joggers are permitted on the course but must maintain a walking pace. For safety reasons, in-line skates, roller skates, and runners pushing strollers are not allowed. Additionally, dogs are prohibited on the course.
Beyond the races, the event includes post-run activities such as food, activities for children, raffles, and silent auctions. Registration fees vary based on the date of entry, and race packets are distributed at the Deaf Action Center in the days leading up to the event or on the morning of the races.
