Schock & Shivers 5K and Cold Water Challenge - Chesapeake, VA
The Schock & Shivers 5K and Cold Water Challenge takes place on February 21, 2026 at Oak Grove Lake Park in Chesapeake, VA. The event is organized by Team Chesapeake as part of Law Enforcement United to fundraise for the Road to Hope and related causes.
The event program includes the following distances and formats:
- 5K race with a Cold Water Challenge at the lake
- Kids 1/2 mile fun run starting at the main pavilion
- Virtual 5K with shirt and medal shipped to virtual participants
The course uses a trail-style path around Oak Grove Lake; the park features a 1.5 mile loop. The race start is located near a memorial at the lake. Chesapeake Police and Fire divers will be present at the lake for safety during the Cold Water Challenge.
Early packet pickup is offered the day before the event at Pale Horse Greenbrier Summit Pointe; race day packet pickup is also available at the park. All in-person participants receive a runner bag and a finisher medal. Registrations completed before January 10, 2026 are eligible for a guaranteed race shirt. Timing for the event is provided by Tidewater Striders and there will be awards for the fastest finishers. Organizers will notify entrants if wintry weather requires changes.
