About the race
The Scarecrow Scramble is an annual nighttime community run that raises funds for the Lisle Partners for Parks Foundation Scholarship Fund. The event takes place in Lisle Community Park and includes a main 5K run/walk plus shorter youth races for younger participants. The 5K course is USATF certified and follows slightly hilly park paths that are lit by luminaria for safety. Race packet items vary by race and while supplies last.
5K and Youth Run participants may receive a limited race hoodie; Tot Dash registrants do not receive a hoodie. All participants receive one food ticket and one drink ticket. A local vendor will offer an all-beef hot dog or a vegetarian portobello option; alcoholic beverages are available only to participants age 21 and older. Competition awards are given for top overall and masters finishers in the 5K, and age-group medals are awarded for place finishers.
General guidelines note that costumes are encouraged, pets are not allowed on the course, and strollers are permitted only for walkers and placed at the end of the field. Registration fees are final and non-refundable. Race officials may cancel the in-person event for severe weather; if canceled, the event may proceed in a virtual format and participants still receive their race packet and shirt.
