Scarecrow Scramble
The Scarecrow Scramble is a community running event held at 1825 Short Street in Lisle, Illinois. The event features multiple distances to accommodate different age groups and preferences. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes while completing the course. All proceeds from the race support recreation scholarships for low-income families and the Lisle Teens with Character Program.
Participants can choose from the following event categories:
- 5K - In Person (3.1 Miles)
- Youth Run
- Tot Dash
The event guidelines state that no pets are permitted on the course. Strollers are allowed only for those walking in the 5K category, and these participants are positioned at the end of the line. Runners who register by the specified September deadline are guaranteed a race shirt. Online registration is required as no mail-in options are available, though in-person registration is offered on the day of the event.
After the race, participants receive food and beverage tickets. Catering includes beef hot dogs and vegetarian portobello mushroom options provided by a local vendor. The post-race atmosphere includes an awards ceremony near the band shell. Trophies are awarded to the top overall male and female finishers, as well as masters winners aged 40 and older. Achievement medals are also presented to the top three finishers in various age groups, ranging from 9 and under to 70 and over.
The Tot Dash takes place in the outfield of a baseball field, and all participants in this category, as well as the Youth Run, receive a ribbon upon crossing the finish line. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
