2026 SBFD Company Monster Dash 5K Run/Walk
The Stony Brook Fire Department hosts the Monster Dash, a Halloween-themed community event held in Stony Brook, New York. The event takes place rain or shine and features two distinct distances for participants:
- 5 km Run/Walk
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk
The 5 km course is a timed race, while the 1 Mile Fun Run is an untimed event. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes, and an award is presented for the best costume. The event starts and finishes at the fire department location on Stony Brook Road.
Participants who register at least three weeks before race day receive a personalized bib with their name on it. Those who register by October 1st are guaranteed an event t-shirt. On-site amenities include water, sports drinks, bagels, and various vendors.
Awards are provided for the top overall male and female finishers in the 5 km race, as well as for the top male and female in specific age groups ranging from 14 and under to 60 and over. Results are provided via live online tracking, text, or email, and participants can access free finish line photos and videos.
