Saxon Shore Half Marathon and 10k
The Saxon Shore event takes place in the coastal town of Whitstable, with the primary event village and headquarters located at Whitstable Castle. This annual event, now in its eighth year, offers participants two distinct distance options along the coastline:
- Half Marathon (minimum age 17)
- 10k (minimum age 15)
The course is set along the Whitstable and Herne Bay coast, featuring a mix of flat sections on the promenade and specific inclines, including a climb at the end of the route leading back to the castle grounds. The event utilizes a loop format, where half marathon participants typically complete two laps of the course. For 2026, the 10k distance returns to the program, providing a shorter alternative to the full half marathon.
The event village at Whitstable Castle serves as a central hub for participants and spectators. It is positioned near several viewing points along the course, allowing friends and family to observe the progress of the runners. Following the races, an after party is held at the castle grounds, featuring live music from a band and food and drink options. Entry to this celebration is included for all registered participants.
