16th Annual Savin Rock Marathon & Half Marathon
The Savin Rock Marathon & Half Marathon is a long-distance running event held in West Haven, Connecticut. The 2026 edition serves as the Road Runners Club of America's Connecticut State Championship Marathon. The race takes place rain or shine, starting and ending near the Savin Rock Conference Center.
The course features a mix of terrain, beginning with four flat miles before transitioning into a series of five hills between miles four and nine. The final four miles of the loop are flat or downhill. Approximately one third of the route travels alongside the Long Island Sound. Marathon participants complete this loop twice.
Available distances include:
- Marathon (42.195 km)
- Half Marathon (21.1 km)
The marathon course is USATF certified and serves as a Boston Marathon qualifier. Aid stations are positioned every 2 miles starting at mile 2.5, providing water and electrolyte drinks. Portable toilets are located at several intervals along the course.
Participants receive a short-sleeve technical t-shirt and a custom finisher medal with a choice of two designs. Rewards for top finishers in various age categories consist of custom pint pilsner glasses. The event includes a "Drop Down Guarantee," allowing marathon runners to be recognized as official half marathon finishers if they choose not to start or complete the second loop.
