Event
The Save Your Breath 5K takes place in Augusta, Maine on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The event base is the Kennebec Valley YMCA at 31 Union Street. The course is an out-and-back 5K on the rail trail between the YMCA and the Adirondack chairs in Hallowell. Music will be played at the start/finish area. Packet pickup is available at the venue on race day.

Registration for most events closes on October 17, 2026. Event tee shirts are ordered on September 18; registrations after that date will not receive a shirt.
Purpose, awards and policies
This race is a fundraiser for Free ME from Lung Cancer. Funds support research, access to early lung detection via low dose CT scans, radon abatement for low-income homeowners, transportation to medical care, and patient support. All live-race finishers receive a medal. Cash prizes and other awards are offered for top finishers in the live 5K and age groups; winners must be present to receive awards.
