Event Overview

The Save Our First Responders 5K is a running and walking event that raises awareness and support for the mental health challenges faced by first responders. It takes place during Monroe County’s annual First Responders Week. The event is described as a prayerful dedication.

Location & Course

The event is held at Truman Waterfront Park near the historic Coast Guard Cutter Ingham in Key West, Florida. The course involves completing three laps around the park, which offers views of the cutter.

Registration & Eligibility

The event is open to the public of all ages and abilities. Registration prices are listed as $30 for general entry, with discounts for younger participants: $20 for ages 5-13 and $25 for ages 14-17. The first 200 entrants receive a free t-shirt and a customized souvenir drawstring backpack.

Awards & Activities

All participants who complete the 5K receive a commemorative finisher medal. Awards are given to top individual and age-group winners, as well as to top teams in the "Super Eight" challenge, where eight separate first responder teams compete.

A schedule of activities includes packet pickup options, an opening ceremony with an invocation, and a guest speaker from the Wounded Warrior Project. After the race, there will be refreshments, a raffle, and an opportunity to join a community ride.

Charitable Cause

The event is a program of The Florida Correctional Officers Association, Inc., a 501(C)(3) public charity. Support from the event directly funds mental health resources for first responders. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
