Event details
The Save Our First Responders 5K takes place on Saturday, January 10, 2026 in Key West, FL. The location is Truman Waterfront Park, near the Coast Guard Cutter Ingham. The event is presented as part of Monroe County’s First Responders Week and is sponsored by Shatterproof FHE Health and several other organizations.
The program includes multiple 5K categories for adults and youth, plus a virtual option. Adult event categories include civilian and first responder / U.S. Armed Forces divisions. Youth events are open to ages 5 to 17; adult events list age ranges up to 125. Packet pickup is scheduled the day before at a local running store and on race day at Truman Waterfront Park.
Course, competition and support
The course consists of three laps around Truman Waterfront Park with views of the historic Coast Guard Cutter Ingham. The event features a "Super Eight" team challenge honoring eight service groups: 911 dispatchers, correctional officers, correctional probation officers, crime scene investigators, EMTs/paramedics and nurses, firefighters, law enforcement officers, and the U.S. Armed Forces.
All participants who complete the 5K will receive a finisher medal. Team awards and individual medals will be given to top teams and age-group winners; a perpetual first-place team trophy will be presented to the winning Super Eight team. The first 200 entrants receive a free t-shirt and a souvenir drawstring backpack. The event is organized as a program of a 501(c)(3) charity; donations are tax-deductible and specified donations will support the Wounded Warrior Project and local Sea Cadets.
