Saturn Running Midweek Chasing Numbers
This is a midweek Chasing Numbers time challenge organised by Saturn Running with the aim of keeping entry costs low so participants can build event numbers or pursue personal targets at an affordable price. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UK Athletics rules. Members receive a reduced entry fee of £10 and a guaranteed place plus a mini me medal pin. Members of UK Athletics affiliated clubs receive a £2 discount.
The format is a seven hour Time Challenge that lets participants choose their distance. The minimum distance is 3 km. A full lap is listed as 4.37 miles or 7 km but may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. The course includes 3 km and 5 km turn points to meet age related distance rules. Lap counts referenced in the event information are: three laps for a half marathon, six laps for a marathon, seven or more for an ultra, and a 50 km option is available.
The route follows a stretch of the River Thames, is fully signed, and is roughly 60 percent on a well made path or tarmac with the remainder on grass and light trail that can become muddy. Road shoes are suitable year round and trail shoes may be preferred for extra grip.
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a medal. Distance pins are supplied for half marathon and greater distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. Finishers are given a goody bag with a vegan option. An aid table with savoury, sweet, fruit, cheese and vegan items is available at the start finish area for each lap.
Venue facilities include toilets at The Last Hop but no separate changing rooms or showers. Parking is available at Bridge Street Car Park in Staines TW18 4TP. Number pick up is on the day at race registration. There is a non secure bag drop area. Headphones are allowed and participants are asked to be considerate of other public footpath users.
