Last Friday of the Month 5k
This is a monthly 5 km road race staged on a two lap course in Hyde Park with the start and finish at the Boathouse on the northern side of the Serpentine lake. The event is organised by volunteers from Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club and is open to all.
Entry is online only to guarantee a place; Royal Parks rules prevent on the day entries. Typical entry fees are £7.00 for a runner registered with England Athletics through any athletics or running club and £9.00 for unaffiliated runners. Refunds are not given except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the club committee. Races often sell out about one week before race day.
The event is held under UK Athletics rules and carries England Athletics licence number 29177 and Certificate of Course Accuracy number 16/201. Minimum age to compete is 11 years. There is a 35 minute cut off after which the course will not be marshalled and results will not be recorded. For safety participants must be able to hear marshals and so should not run with headphones.
Facilities are minimal: no changing or shower facilities and no toilets at the Boathouse. Public toilets are available near the Bandstand about 500 m from the start and accept card only for a 20p fee. Personal belongings may be left near the start at the owner’s risk; a labelled waterproof bag is recommended. Refreshments are available nearby from the Serpentine Bar and Kitchen and park kiosks. Results are published on the Serpentine website and are normally available on the evening of the race.
