The Dashing Dog Charity Run - Wales
The Dashing Dog Charity Run is a fundraising event held at Dare Valley Country Park in Aberdare. The event supports local dog rehoming centres through entry fee surcharges and optional donations. Participants run on a course consisting of well-maintained footpaths and public footpaths, making the route suitable for road trainers.
This event follows a 7-hour time challenge format, giving participants control over the distance they choose to complete. A full lap is approximately 7 km (4.37 miles), though this may change to a 3.28 mile loop depending on course conditions. Turn points are available at 3 km and 5 km to accommodate younger runners or those seeking shorter distances. Available distance milestones include:
- 3 km
- 5 km
- 10 km
- Half Marathon
- Marathon
- 50 km
- Ultra Marathon
Finishers who complete at least 3 km receive a themed medal. Distance pins are awarded for completing a half marathon or further. An aid station at the start and finish of each lap provides water and a variety of sweet and savoury snacks, including vegan options.
The venue offers free parking, on-site toilets, and a cafe located near the race headquarters. There are no dedicated changing rooms or showers. Runners may leave bags at the start area, though no secure storage is provided. Participation is open to runners and walkers of all abilities, with specific age restrictions applying to longer distances according to UK Athletics rules.
