The Christmas Carol Bobble Hat Run is a 7-hour timed challenge held at Durham Amateur Rowing Club, Green Ln, Old Elvet, Durham DH1 3JU. The course runs along a stretch of the River Wear with views of the Cathedral and is classified as a trail run. The route is fully signed and described as flat. Maximum entrants are 300 and entries close on 13/12/2025. The minimum entry age is 12 years. Entry prices are listed as Affiliated £34.00 and Unattached £36.00.

Facilities and rules
Anyone who completes at least 3 km is an official finisher and receives a themed medal and a bobble hat. Finishers receive a goody bag; a vegan goody bag option is available. Distance pins are issued for half-marathon, mega-half, marathon, 50 km and ultra distances and are attached to the medal ribbon. An aid and drinks table is provided at the start/finish of each lap with snacks and vegan options. Toilets and changing facilities are available at the venue HQ. There is nearby free on-street parking or pay-and-display city centre parking. Headphones are allowed. Transfers cost £2.50 up to the day before; a deferral fee of £18 applies if arranged before the event. Runners over 45 km must be at least 20 years old; 18 and 19 year olds may run up to 45 km. Final instructions will be emailed 7-10 days before the event and race numbers are collected on the day at registration before the start.
