SARR Freedom Day Run

The SARR Freedom Day Run is a recurring community event held annually on the 4th of July at McAllister Park-Pavilion #2 in San Antonio, Texas. Organized by the San Antonio RoadRunners, the event encourages participants to wear red, white, and blue attire and features a costume contest following the completion of the races.

The gathering offers several distances and participation methods to accommodate different preferences:

  • 4-Miler: A chip-timed competitive race.
  • 2-Miler: A non-timed fun run and walk.
  • Li'l Firecrackers Kids Run: A 400m distance for younger participants.
  • Virtual 4-Miler: A remote option for those unable to attend in person.
  • Virtual 2-Miler: A remote option allowing participants to time themselves.

Participants receive a finisher medal and an adult or youth-sized tech shirt. The 4-Miler race includes a formal awards ceremony for overall winners and specific five-year age groups. Those attending the physical event at McAllister Park have access to post-race food and refreshments.

Registration discounts are available for San Antonio RoadRunners members, active-duty military personnel, and participants aged 24 or younger or 70 and older. For those choosing the virtual format, race packets can be picked up in person or shipped for an additional fee. Virtual participants are required to submit their results via the official platform to receive a finisher certificate. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
