About the race
The Turkey Trot is the San Antonio Food Bank’s annual 5K run and walk held from the Commander’s House at H-E-B Arsenal in Downtown San Antonio, 622 S. Flores St., San Antonio, TX 78204. The event raises funds to help feed families during the holidays; every registration provides a turkey for a family in need and supports the San Antonio Food Bank’s programs.
The course follows a scenic downtown route with Riverwalk views and passes historic La Villita and the Tower of the Americas. Two water stations are available along the route. Race day refreshments and snacks are provided by sponsors, with coffee available before the race and additional beverages at the finish line.
The event is family friendly. Strollers are allowed and children ages 4 to 11 have a separate registration category; children 3 and under may run free though a shirt is not included. Pets are permitted when secured on a leash or in a pet stroller; participants are asked to consider the safety of others.
Packet pick-up is offered on multiple days in the week before the event at locations to be announced. The City will close roads around the Commander’s House for safety, and the H-E-B Parking Garage at 407 Dwyer Ave is noted as a drop-off option with a skybridge to the event.
