South Shields Harriers Sand Dancer Race Series 2026
The South Shields Harriers Sand Dancer Race Series takes place in South Shields. This multi-terrain event features a variety of distances held under a UKA license. The races start on the promenade located outside the local pub, which is a short walk from Gypsies Green Stadium.
The event offers the following distances:
- 10 km (approximate) Senior Race for participants aged 16 and over.
- Junior Race for participants aged 12 and over.
- Minor Race for children between the ages of 2 and 11.
Race headquarters are located at Gypsies Green Stadium, where participants collect their race numbers on the morning of the event. The course routes are categorized as multi-terrain and are not suitable for wheelchair users or visually impaired competitors. In accordance with UK Athletics rules, standard headphones are not permitted, although bone conducting devices are allowed.
Participants in the senior race receive a medal, a running buff, and refreshments upon finishing. Cash prizes are awarded to age category winners and the top three finishers in the senior race. All finishers of the junior and minor races receive a medal and refreshments.
