Sand Dancer Race Series - South Shields 2026
The Sand Dancer Race Series is organised by South Shields Harriers & Athletics Club and takes place in South Shields. The event holds a UK Athletics race licence (2026 - 30149).
The programme includes three races: a minor race for children aged 2 to 11, a junior race for those aged 12 and over, and a senior multi-terrain race for runners aged 16 and over. The senior race is approximately 10 km.
Entry is available online with on-the-day registration offered from Gypsies Green subject to availability. UK Athletics registered runners can claim a £2 discount by providing a URN. On-the-day fees are listed as £5 for minor and junior races, £23 for affiliated senior entrants, and £25 for unaffiliated senior entrants. Transfers of race numbers for the 10 km race are allowed up to Thursday 8 May.
Race numbers are collected on the day from Gypsies Green Stadium (NE33 2JH). The race starts on the promenade outside the Sand Dancer pub, close to Gypsies Green. Parking is available at South Promenade Car Park (NE33 3NB); pay and display and PaybyPhone are available.
All finishers receive a medal, a running buff and refreshments. Cash prizes are awarded to age category winners and to the first three finishers in the senior 10 km race. Headphones are not permitted under UK Athletics rules; bone conducting devices are allowed. The courses are not suitable for competitors in wheelchairs or visually impaired runners. Results may include published personal information such as name, club affiliation, race times and age category. Photos of the race routes are available on the event Facebook page.
