Event overview
SG Petch Sunderland City Runs is a closed-road running event in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. It takes place across two days on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May 2026, with Keel Square (SR1 3DZ) listed as the event address. The routes run through the city and along the seafront and include the Keel Crossing footbridge. The event has a history dating back to 2011 when the first Sunderland City 10km attracted just over 1,500 participants; in 2025 about 5,000 people took part across the event distances.

Minimum ages are given for entries: Half Marathon 17 years, 10K 15 years, 5K 11 years. Entry fees vary by distance and affiliation status; example ranges shown for 2026 include Half Marathon £37-39 (early bird rates to 31 Oct 2025: £34/£36), 10K £27-29 (early bird: £24.50/£26.50), and 5K £15-17.
Included with entry are a traffic-free course, medal and goody bag for finishers, secure baggage drop, electronic chip timing, and prizes for the top three male and female finishers plus first veterans in V40, V50 and V60 categories.
