SG Petch Sunderland City Runs

SG Petch Sunderland City Runs is a two-day road running event in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, held on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 May 2027. The event includes multiple race distances through city streets, and the organisers describe the routes as fast and traffic free. The first Sunderland City 10K took place in 2011 with just over 1,500 participants; recent editions have welcomed over 5,000 runners across the weekend.

Race categories on the programme include:

• 5K, minimum age 11, entry fee listed at £15.50
• 10K, minimum age 15, entry fee listed at £24.50
• Half Marathon, minimum age 17, entry fee listed at £34
• Active Sunderland BIG 3K, organised by Sunderland City Council, entry between £7.50 and £12.50

Entries include electronic chip timing, secure baggage drop, a finisher medal and a goody bag. Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers and to the first competitors in the V40, V50 and V60 categories.
