Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k & Junior Race
The event on 3 May 2026 offers multiple road closed races taking in prominent Gateshead landmarks. Distances on the programme include:

The courses pass sites such as Gateshead Millennium Bridge, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, BALTIC, Tyne Bridge and Swing Bridge, and finish inside Gateshead International Stadium where competitors complete a lap of the track before crossing the line.
Gateshead International Stadium is presented as the third largest sporting venue in Tyne and Wear and the North East’s only IAAF-standard athletics stadium. The venue has hosted Diamond and Golden League athletics meetings and the European Cup, and five world records have been recorded on its track.
Race logistics note a six hour cut off due to road closures. Entries include a unique themed medal, chip timed results, post-race goodies and free race photos. Each kilometre on the course is marked with distance flags and marshals are positioned to guide and support participants. An event village will offer food and drink options and free items from partner stands. The event lists The Bubble Foundation as its 2026 charity supporting children with life threatening immune conditions on Ward 3 at the Great North Children’s Hospital.
