Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon
The Newcastle-Gateshead Marathon event features several distances on closed roads through Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne. The courses pass through notable local landmarks, including the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, The Glasshouse International Centre for Music, the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, the Tyne Bridge, and the Swing Bridge. The races conclude inside the Gateshead International Stadium, where participants complete their final stretch on the athletics track.
The venue is an IAAF-standard athletics stadium that has staged high-profile events such as the Diamond League and the European Cup. The marathon distance is subject to a six-hour cut-off time due to the road closure schedule.

Participants receive chip-timed results, a themed medal, post-race refreshments, and access to free digital race photos. The course is marked at every kilometre with distance flags, and marshals are positioned throughout to provide assistance. Registration does not include a t-shirt as a standard item, though participants have the option to purchase one during the entry process.
