San Diego Head for the Cure 5K
The San Diego Head for the Cure 5K is an annual community event held at Mission Bay. Now in its third year, the event takes place at Tecolote Shores South. The primary focus of the gathering is to raise awareness and funds for brain cancer research and patient support.
The event features several participation options:
- 5K run/walk
- 100-meter dash Kids Fun Run
The course is located at 1344 E Mission Bay Drive, and a dedicated parking map is provided for participants. In addition to the athletic events, the schedule includes various community recognitions. These include the Courage Award Ceremony, the Keeping the Faith recognition for survivors, and the Legacy of Love award for caregivers. There is also a dedicated photo session for brain tumor survivors.
Proceeds from the event benefit local and national organizations. Local beneficiaries include the UC San Diego Department of Neurological Surgery and Path to Hope. These funds support clinical research, local brain cancer programs, education, and various health initiatives. Participants can join as individuals or as part of a team to contribute to the fundraising goals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
