Donut Dash
The Donut Dash is a themed running event held at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. The event features multiple distances and activities centered around a festive atmosphere and local bakeries. The staging area is located at the El Arroyo picnic area near the duck pond, and participants can park within the grounds of Kit Carson Park.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5 km
- 1 mile (Donut Mile)
- Kids Dash
The 5 km course consists of a single loop on a combination of trails, sidewalks, and bike paths. It features scenic views of the park along with various art sculptures. This distance is stroller friendly, and participants may wear either road or trail shoes. Dogs are not permitted on the course.
The Donut Mile is a specialized event limited to 100 participants aged 13 and older. Runners must complete four laps of a 1/4 mile loop. At the start of each lap, participants are required to eat and swallow a glazed or cake donut. This race is organized into four waves of 25 people each.
A Finish Line Festival and Donut Bar are available to all attendees, featuring over 1,000 donuts provided by local shops. All participants in the 5k receive a themed finisher's medal and an event t-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
