Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K
The Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K is a two-day race weekend in Pacific Beach, San Diego on October 3 and 4, 2026. The event offers multiple race distances and a beachside atmosphere.
Distances
- Half Marathon point-to-point from Crown Point Park to Thomas Ave at the Pacific Beach Boardwalk
- 5K course split roughly half sand and half boardwalk with start and finish on the sand
- Kids 1K fun run on the beach
- Surfside Double Shot Challenge for participants who run both the 5K and the Half Marathon
The half marathon route runs along the waterfront and passes SeaWorld, Hospitality Point, the West Mission Bay Drive bridge, and Mission Beach before finishing at Thomas Ave and the Pacific Beach Boardwalk. The 5K takes place as part of Pacific Beachfest.
Registration fees listed by the organizer include specific prices for the Half Marathon, 5K, Surfside Double Shot Challenge, and Kids 1K. All runners receive a Pacific Beach tank top, a custom finisher medal, chip timing, free photos, and a complimentary drink ticket. Half Marathon participants receive custom SDRC sunglasses as a bonus.
Awards for both the Half Marathon and the 5K include Top 3 Overall and age group awards for men and women in the following brackets: 13 & Under; 14 - 19; 20 - 24; 25 - 29; 30 - 34; 35 - 39; 40 - 44; 45 - 49; 50 - 54; 55 - 59; 60 - 64; 65 - 69; 70 - 74; 75 - 79; 80+. 5K awards are determined by combined results of the event waves and are available for pick-up at the San Diego Running Co. booth; awards can be mailed if a winner cannot stay.
