Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K
The Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K takes place over a two-day race weekend on October 3 and 4, 2026, in the Pacific Beach area of San Diego. The event offers multiple distances and organized waves across the weekend.
- Half Marathon: point-to-point from Crown Point Park to Thomas Ave at Pacific Beach Boardwalk.
- 5K: held during Pacific Beachfest, 50% sand and 50% boardwalk, start and finish on sand.
- Kids 1K: short fun run for children with beach start and finish.
The half marathon course runs along the waterfront and passes SeaWorld, Hospitality Point, the West Mission Bay Drive bridge, and Mission Beach before finishing on Thomas Ave at the boardwalk. The 5K is scheduled as part of Pacific Beachfest and includes both sand and boardwalk surfaces.
Registration fees listed for 2026 are $144.99 for the half marathon, $59.99 for the 5K, $189.99 for the Surfside Double Shot Challenge for both races, and $29.99 for the Kids 1K; displayed prices include fees. Runners who complete both days receive an exclusive challenge medal.
All participants receive a Pacific Beach tank top, custom finisher medal, chip timing, free photos, and a complimentary drink ticket. Half marathon finishers also receive custom SDRC sunglasses. Age group and overall awards for both men and women will be distributed across multiple age categories; 5K awards are based on combined results of both 5K waves. Winners are asked to pick up awards in person at the San Diego Running Co. booth in the vendor village; 5K winners who cannot stay until after the later 5K wave will be mailed their award.
