Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K
The Pacific Beach Half Marathon & 5K is held in Pacific Beach, San Diego on Saturday and Sunday, October 3 and 4, 2026. The event includes multiple distances and a separate kids fun run.
- Half Marathon - point to point course along the bay and ocean
- 5K - course split roughly half on sand and half on boardwalk

The half marathon starts at Crown Point Park in Mission Bay Park and finishes on Thomas Ave where it meets the Pacific Beach Boardwalk. The route follows the waterfront and passes SeaWorld, Hospitality Point, the West Mission Bay Drive bridge, and Mission Beach.
The 5K takes place during the Saturday beach festival and has its start and finish on the sand at 700 Thomas Ave. The kids 1K also starts on the beach at the same location.
The Surfside Double Shot Challenge combines the 5K and the half marathon across the weekend and awards an exclusive challenge medal to participants who complete both races. Registered runners receive event items including a Pacific Beach tank top, a custom finisher medal, chip timing, free photos, a complimentary drink ticket, and a half marathon bonus pair of sunglasses.
Awards for overall and age group categories for both events will be distributed after the event for men and women. Winners may pick up awards at the San Diego Running Co. booth in the vendor village; awards can be mailed if a winner cannot remain for pickup.
