San Diego Donut Dash
The San Diego Donut Dash is an annual running event held at Kit Carson Park in Escondido, California. The event features several distances and formats centered around a donut theme, including a traditional run, a competitive eating challenge, and a race for younger participants.
Available distances and categories include:
- 5K
- Donut Mile (1 mile)
- Kid's Dash (400 yards)
The 5K takes place on a course within the park, and participants receive a donut-themed finisher's medal. Following the run, a festival is held at the finish line featuring a donut bar with over 1,000 donuts provided by local shops and bakeries.
The Donut Mile is a specialized event limited to 100 participants. Runners must complete four quarter-mile laps, consuming one donut at the start of each lap. The first individual to finish the mile and consume all four donuts without vomiting is awarded the Donut Championship Belt. Those interested in multiple events have the option to register for both the 5K and the Donut Mile.
For younger runners, the Kid's Dash offers a 400-yard out-and-back course. Participants in this category receive a race bib and a medal upon completion. Event shirts for the various races are available as an optional purchase for an additional fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
