El Taco Loco - Land Heritage Institute
El Taco Loco is a trail running event held on November 14, 2026 at the Land Heritage Institute near San Antonio, TX. The event offers multiple distances on mainly single-track trails with soft footing and loose gravel. The course runs through open meadows and along the Medina River.
Available distances include:
- 100 miles
- 100 kilometers
- 50 kilometers
- 25 kilometers
- 10 kilometers
- 5 kilometers
The 100k distance includes a four person relay option and a virtual race option is available. Longer races use repeated loops: the 100M and 100k use multiple loops, and shorter races use single or fewer loops.
Aid stations on the main loop are full aid stations. They provide drinks, sodas, sweets, salty snacks, sandwiches and hot foods, basic medical supplies without NSAIDs, and feminine care products. The race operates cupless aid stations; runners are expected to use reusable cups, bottles, or hydration packs. Drop bags are stored at the main aid area and will be delivered to selected aid locations.
Pacers are permitted under specific race rules and must sign a waiver and wear a pacing bib; pacers must complete the full loop from the start/finish area. Relay teams must complete the full loop for each exchange; smaller teams may receive a reduced fee.
Parking and tent or car camping take place at the Land Heritage Institute. Park entry is $10 per person; children 12 and under are free and camping is included with park entry. Event swag includes hoodies for the 100M and 100k, and shirts for other distances. Finisher awards include medals and buckles; finishers also receive a taco.
