Sammy's Hope 5K Run/Walk
The Sammy's Hope 5K Run/Walk takes place at the Sayreville Sports Complex in New Jersey. This event is held on the Capik Nature Preserve Trails and is categorized as a trail run. Due to the nature of the trails, dogs are not permitted on the course during the event. The course is not USATF certified.
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed trail event with options for individual or team registration.
- 1 Mile Run/Walk: An untimed walk or run on the trail system.
Registered participants receive several amenities, including live results sent via text or email and free finish line photos. Those who register at least three weeks before the event receive a personalized race bib. T-shirts are guaranteed for participants who complete their registration by June 1st, though sizes are subject to availability for later registrants.
The event serves as a fundraiser for Sammy's Hope Animal Welfare and Adoption Center, a non-profit organization based in Sayreville. The organization provides shelter, medical care, and socialization for homeless dogs and cats. Awards are presented to the top male and female overall finishers in the 5K, as well as the top fundraising individual and team.
Bib pickup begins one hour before the first event. For those unable to attend the physical location, a virtual participation option is available, allowing runners to track their own distance and upload times between June 21 and June 29.
