Steall Ultra 50K
The Steall Ultra is a mountain ultramarathon held as part of Salomon Skyline Scotland. The route covers approximately 47 km with 3,100 m of ascent and traverses the full length of the Mamores ridge, linking five Munro summits.
The course leaves Kinlochleven, climbs An Cumham to overlook Loch Eildhe Mor, and reaches the first summit at Sgòr Eilde Beag. Runners follow a mix of technical rocky ground and grassy trails along the ridge to Mullach nan Coirean, then descend into Glen Nevis and join forestry tracks toward the Ben Nevis visitor centre and aid station. The route continues on the Ben Nevis tourist path to Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe, passes beneath the Ben’s north face to the CIC hut, then descends via Allt a’ Mhuilinn track into Leanachan Forest and down the lower section of the Blue Doon MTB track to finish at Nevis Range.
The course is fully waymarked and mandatory; participants must follow the marked path and may be disqualified for deviations. Navigation aids, marshals and mountain safety teams are present, but runners should carry a secondary navigation system. A well stocked, marshalled aid station is located in Glen Nevis at about 31 km offering drinks, sandwiches, traybakes including vegan and gluten free options, and toilets. GPS trackers are issued at registration and must remain attached for safety and live tracking. Entry fees range from £100 to £160 and the minimum age is 18. The event is organised by Ourea Events and awards prizes and UTMB/ITRA points. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
