Steall Ultra 50K

The Steall Ultra is a linear mountain trail race that traverses the full length of the Mamores ridge and links five Munro summits. The route is approximately 47 km long with about 3,100 m of ascent and runs from Kinlochleven to the Nevis Range finish.

The course leaves Kinlochleven, climbs steeply up An Cumham and reaches the ridge at Sgòr Eilde Beag. Runners follow a mixture of technical rocky ground and grassy trails along the ridge to Mullach nan Coirean, descend into Glen Nevis, then join forestry tracks toward the Ben Nevis visitor area. The route joins the Ben Nevis tourist path, passes Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe and traverses beneath the north face to the CIC hut before descending via Leanachan Forest and the lower Blue Doon mountain bike track to the Nevis Range finish.

The entire route is mandatory and will be comprehensively waymarked and marshalled; deviations from the marked path may lead to disqualification. The course includes a fully marshalled aid station in Glen Nevis at about 31 km offering drinks, sandwiches, traybakes, vegan and gluten free options, and toilets including female-only facilities. Runners are provided with a GPS tracker for safety and live tracking. Participants have 14 hours to complete the course and should carry the mandatory kit specified by the organisers. Routes are provisional and subject to final consultation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
