Ben Nevis Race : 5 September 2026
The Ben Nevis Race is a mountain running event on Saturday 5 September 2026 that runs from the foot of the highest mountain in the UK to the summit and then back to the start. The event is based at New Town Park, Claggan, Fort William, PH33 6TE. Entry is limited to 600 competitors.
Entries are handled via a pre-selection list. Entrants are added to the pre-selection list and, if offered a place, will receive an invitation to complete payment and confirm their entry. Entries open 21 March 2026 and close 10 July 2026. There is no refund policy for cancelled entries.
Eligibility rules require competitors to be at least 18 years old on 1 January 2026 and to be a member of a bona fide athletics or running club; unattached runners are not permitted. Regular entry requires successful completion of a minimum of three Category AM hill races within the previous five years. Exemptions will be granted for those who completed the Ben Nevis Race in 3 hours 30 minutes or less in the past five years; other exemption requests for similar mountain or endurance events may be considered with evidence.
Registration takes place on race day and competitors must present their entry invitation receipt to collect race pack and bib. Substitution of name or number is not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
