Ben Nevis Race
The Ben Nevis Race is a mountain running event held in Fort William, starting from New Town Park, Claggan, and running from the foot of Ben Nevis to the summit and back. The 2026 edition takes place on Saturday 5 September 2026 and entries are limited to 600 competitors.
Entry is managed through a pre-selection list. Entrants are added to the pre-selection list without payment; if offered a place they receive an invitation and must return to the entry system to confirm and pay. No name or number substitutions are allowed. There are no refunds for cancelled entries.
Competitors must be at least 18 years old on 1 January 2026 and must belong to a bona fide Athletics or Running Club; unattached runners are not permitted. Applicants must have completed a minimum of three Category AM hill races within the last five years. Exemptions will be granted to those who completed the Ben Nevis Race in 3 hours 30 minutes or less in the past five years. Other exemption requests for similar mountain or endurance events may be considered with supporting evidence.
Entry fees are specified by membership status. Registration on event day requires an Entry Invitation Receipt to collect race materials, and competitors who chose a t-shirt will receive one at registration. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
