Ben Nevis Race - Saturday 5 September 2026
The Ben Nevis Race runs from the foot of the highest mountain in the UK to the summit and back, with the event based at New Town Park, Claggan, Fort William. The race is held annually on the first Saturday in September; the 2026 edition takes place on Saturday 5 September.
Entries use a pre-selection system with a field limit of 600 competitors. Entry windows are specified for this year, and entry is allocated by invitation from the organiser; payment is required only after an invitation is offered. Registration on race day requires the entrant’s invitation acceptance receipt to collect the race pack, bib number and any selected event t-shirt.
Entry requirements are defined and include a minimum age of 18 years on 1 January 2026, club membership in a bona fide athletics or running club (no unattached runners), and completion of at least three Category AM hill races within the last five years. Exemptions are listed: completion of the Ben Nevis Race in 3 hours 30 minutes or less within the past five years guarantees an exemption; other exemptions for similar mountain or endurance events may be considered with supporting evidence. Entries cannot be transferred to another person and numbers cannot be substituted. The organiser’s cancellation and no-refund policy applies.
