Sea to Summit Ben Nevis
Sea to Summit Ben Nevis is a fully waymarked and fully supported mountain ultramarathon that runs from the coast to the summit of Ben Nevis. The event is part of the Sea to Summit Trilogy and the Rat Race National 3 Peaks series.
The course covers 28 miles (45 km) with approximately +5400 ft of ascent and is run in a single day. The route is about 95% trail and passes through ancient woodland, waterfalls, gorges, hidden lochans and remote moorland before reaching the summit trig point. Bright orange arrows mark the entire route so following a GPX file or map is not required.
The event includes organised pit stops with water, hot drinks, salty snacks, sweets and fruit, plus access to toilets and medical support. Medical cover is provided by a professional event medic service with paramedics and doctors in vehicles and a private ambulance. Cut offs are set at a 3 mph pace and apply at key points on the route, including 6.5 miles, 12.5 miles, the Zig Zag ascent at 14.5 miles and 24 miles.
A mandatory coach transfer runs from Nevis Range Mountain Experience Resort to the coastal startline and the finish is at the Nevis Range Mountain Experience Resort. Participants must be over 18 on the day of registration. A list of mandatory kit items is provided by the organiser. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
