Event

WEEKEND 9 takes place on 23 May 2026 in the Howgill Fells. The event is organised by Sabre XXII. Entry is open for people aged 18 or older. The published entry fee is £58. Entries noted so far are 30 participants. Entries open and close dates are given by the organiser.

Route and logistics

The route is an out-and-back fell course of about 25 km with approximately 1500 m of ascent. The course follows the original 23 SAS final test route. The route is fully way marked and a GPX file will be available. Terrain includes fell land, tracks and footpaths. Checkpoints on the route are manned for safety checks but do not provide food or snacks, so competitors are expected to be self-sufficient. There are published cut-off times. Finishers receive a patch and there are post-race drinks at the pub. Prizes are awarded to the first male and first female in each category.

Categories and requirements

Three entry categories are listed: Load bearing; Runner/Clean Fatigue; Walker/Unloaded. Runner and walker categories not carrying load are required to carry mandatory mountain safety kit, which will be checked at registration. Minimum loaded requirements (weight plus food and water) are: under 50 years - men 35 lb, women 30 lb; over 50 years - men 25 lb, women 20 lb. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
