Pete Bland 50th Kentmere Horseshoe
The race is a clockwise horseshoe of the Kentmere Valley on the grassy Eastern fells. It covers 12.3 miles (19.8 km) with about 3300 ft (1006 m) of climb and includes the ridges of Ill Bell, High Street and Kentmere Pike. The route features ridge running and is flagged and marshalled from Hallow Bank back to the finish.
The event is held on 19 July 2026 and uses Kentmere Village Hall as the venue. Parking is provided at the Hollingsworth & Vose factory for a small charge. Refreshments are available in the village hall and the organiser will operate a mobile shop at the race.
The race is run under FRA competition rules. Minimum kit requirements apply and will be strictly enforced. Competitors are expected to carry waterproof whole body cover, a map and compass suitable for navigation, a whistle, hat and gloves, and emergency food.
Checkpoint cut offs apply at two of the three checkpoints: Ill Bell has a cut off of 1 hour 20 minutes, High Street has a cut off of 2 hours 20 minutes, and Kentmere Pike has no cut off. Reaching a checkpoint beyond the cut off will result in disqualification and marshals may direct runners off the hill. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
