Run/Walk for Hope
The Run/Walk for Hope is an athletic event held at White Hall Park in Richmond, Kentucky. This event is organized by Legacy of Hope Restored, a nonprofit organization that supports educational and mentoring programs for children in Colombia and Argentina. All proceeds from the race are directed toward these initiatives.
The event features several participation options:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed race for participants aged 6 and older on a scenic course.
- 1K Kona Ice Kids Color Run: An untimed course around the lake for children aged 5-12.
- Virtual 5K: A remote participation option that can be completed at any location.
The 5K route takes participants through historic White Hall. Runners in this category receive a commemorative race bib, a custom t-shirt, and a finisher medal. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top three finishers in various age brackets ranging from 10 to over 70. There is also a special award for the team with the most members.
Children participating in the 1K Color Run are splashed with color at different points along the route while music plays. Each child in this category receives a voucher for a free Kona Ice after the race. The event area includes access to indoor restrooms and parking at the main park lot. On-site activities feature face painting, music, and food vendors including coffee and cheese-focused refreshments. Professional race photography is provided for the participants.
