Running With the Lions
Running With the Lions is a community 5K run and walk held in Madera, California at Lions Town & Country Park (2300 Howard Road). The event is organized by the Madera Evening Lions and described as the fifth annual race to raise awareness about diabetes. The race aims to provide diabetes information through local agencies and organizations and to support diabetes research; JDRF will be present as an organizational participant.
Online registration closes on April 9, and in-person registration is available at packet pick up on April 10 and on the morning of the event. Race participants receive a ready-to-plant fruit tree from The Burchell Nursery (one per family). T-shirts in appropriate sizes are guaranteed to those who register on or before March 21. Finishers receive a surprise finisher goodie and a finisher Lion medal. Bib and T-shirt pickup is scheduled for Friday April 10 at Town and Country Park between Baseball Fields 1 and 2 behind the snack bar under the big purple tent; day-of bib pickup is available at the amphitheater by the starting line.
The Madera Evening Lions will also collect eyeglasses at packet pickup and on race day for proper recycling. Funds raised will assist diabetes research. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
