Running with the Big Dogs 5k Run and 2 mile Dog Stroll
The event takes place on September 13, 2026, at 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, Indiana. It offers running and walking options and allows participants to take part with or without a dog.

Dogs must be on a leash (maximum 6 ft) and have a current rabies inoculation. Puppies six months of age or younger and female dogs in any stage of heat are not allowed to participate. Dogs whose behavior is unruly or could be hazardous to others will be asked to leave. Participants are advised to consult a veterinarian about a pet’s suitability for the event.
All registered human participants receive a cotton t-shirt; the design will be posted as the race approaches. All dogs that complete the walk or run receive a medal. A course map is available. Part of the event proceeds will be donated to Humane Indiana.
The event is organized by Crazy Legs Race Series, which runs pavement and non-pavement races in northwest Indiana and holds events in parks or areas within Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
