Event Overview
The Running with the Big Dogs event offers two distances: a 5k run and a 2-mile dog stroll. The event takes place at 500 Ackerman Drive in Porter, Indiana. Participants can run or walk, and they may participate with or without a dog.
Dog Participation Rules
Dogs are allowed but must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet. All dogs must have a current rabies vaccination. Puppies under six months old and female dogs in heat are not allowed to participate. Dogs with unruly or hazardous behavior may be asked to leave the event. Participants are urged to consult a veterinarian before registering their pet.
Participant Perks
All registered participants receive a cotton t-shirt. All dogs that complete the walk or run receive a medal.
Course and Series Information
A link to the course map is provided online. The event is part of the Crazy Legs Race Series, which promotes non-pavement and pavement races in Northwest Indiana's Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties. The series aims for fun course design in a low-key atmosphere.
