Running with the Big Dogs 5k Run and 2 mile Dog Stroll
This event on September 13, 2026 takes place at 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN 46304. It offers two course options for people and their dogs.

Dogs must be on a leash at all times with a maximum leash length of 6 ft. All participating dogs must have a current rabies inoculation. Puppies six months of age or younger and female dogs in any stage of heat are not permitted. Any dog whose behavior is unruly or might be hazardous to other participants, dogs, or spectators will be asked to leave the event. Organizers advise consulting a veterinarian about a pet’s fitness to participate.
All registered human participants receive a cotton t-shirt; the design will be posted closer to the event. All dogs that complete the walk or run receive a medal. Part of the event proceeds will be donated to Humane Indiana. The event is presented as part of the Crazy Legs Race Series, which manages races in parks and areas within Lake, Porter, and Laporte counties.
