Running with the Big Dogs 5k Run and 2 mile Dog Stroll
Running with the Big Dogs is an event on September 13, 2026, at 500 Ackerman Drive in Porter, Indiana. It offers two distance options and allows participants to run or walk with or without their dog.

- 2 mile Dog Stroll
Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 ft and must have a current rabies inoculation. Puppies six months of age or younger and female dogs in any stage of heat are not permitted. Any dog whose behavior is unruly or could be hazardous to other participants or spectators will be removed from the event. Participants are advised to consult a veterinarian about their pet’s health before participating.
All registered human participants receive a cotton t-shirt; the design will be posted closer to the event. All dogs that complete the walk or run receive a medal. A route map is available for the course.
Part of the event proceeds will be donated to Humane Indiana. The event is organized under the Crazy Legs Race Series (CLRS), which supports pavement and non-pavement races in Northwest Indiana and holds events in parks and areas across Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties.
