Event Overview
Running with the Big Dogs is an athletic event held in Porter, Indiana, on September 13, 2026. Dog Participation Guidelines
All participating dogs must be kept on a leash with a maximum length of 6 feet at all times and must have a current rabies inoculation. For safety and health reasons, puppies aged six months or younger, and female dogs in any stage of heat, are not permitted to participate. Dogs exhibiting unruly behavior may be asked to leave. Organizers recommend that owners consult with a veterinarian regarding their pet's health status before registration.
Participant Information
Every registered human participant receives a cotton t-shirt. All dogs that complete either the run or the walk are awarded a medal. A portion of the proceeds from the event is donated to Humane Indiana. The course is part of a series that focuses on varied terrain across Lake, Porter, and Laporte counties.
