Running with the Big Dogs 5k Run and 2 mile Dog Stroll
Running with the Big Dogs includes a 5k run and a 2 mile dog stroll held in Porter, Indiana at 500 Ackerman Drive on September 13, 2026. The event is organized by the Crazy Legs Race Series, which focuses on promoting paved and non‑paved races in Lake, Porter, and LaPorte counties.
Participants may run or walk with or without a dog. Dogs must be on a leash with a 6 ft maximum. All dogs must have current rabies inoculation. Puppies six months of age or younger and female dogs in any stage of heat are not permitted. Dogs that display unruly or hazardous behavior may be asked to leave the event. Participants are advised to consult a veterinarian regarding their pet’s health before entry.
All registered participants receive a cotton t-shirt; the shirt design will be posted as the race date approaches. All dogs that complete the walk or run receive a medal. The course route is published on Ride with GPS. Part of the event proceeds will be donated to Humane Indiana.
Registration is separated by event type, with different fees for the 2 mile walk and the 5k run; fees increase in later registration periods. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
