Running with the Big Dogs 5k Run and 2 mile Dog Stroll
Running with the Big Dogs is scheduled for September 13, 2026, at 500 Ackerman Drive, Porter, IN 46304. The event offers both a measured running distance and a shorter stroll for participants with dogs.

Participants may run or walk with or without a dog. Dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 ft at all times and must have a current rabies inoculation. Puppies six months of age or younger and female dogs in any stage of heat are not permitted. Dogs whose behavior is unruly or could be hazardous to others will be asked to leave. The organizer recommends consulting a veterinarian about a dog’s health before registering.
All registered participants receive a cotton t-shirt; the design will be posted as the race date approaches. All dogs that complete the walk or run receive a medal. A course map is provided by the organizer and part of the event proceeds will be donated to Humane Indiana.
The event is managed by the Crazy Legs Race Series, which develops and manages pavement and non pavement races in northwest Indiana and holds events in parks and areas within Lake, Porter and Laporte counties. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
