Event Overview

The Calumet Park Light the Darkness 5K Walk/Run is the 9th annual edition of the event. The purpose of the event is to support suicide prevention. It takes place in Merrillville, Indiana at 2305 West 73rd Avenue, on the corner of 73rd and Taft.

Registration and Fees

Pre-registration for the event costs $25. Registration on the day of the race costs $30.

Awards

Awards are presented in multiple categories. These include the top overall male and female finishers, as well as top male and female finishers aged 40 and over. Age group awards are given to the top three male and female finishers in many categories, ranging from 8 and under to 80 and over. Additional awards are presented for the top Clydesdale (men 210 lbs and over) and top Athena (women 170 lbs and over) participants. Those who choose to compete in the Clydesdale or Athena category are not eligible for overall or age group awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
