Running Wild Trail Run - Pelican Rapids
The Running Wild Trail Run is an event that takes place at Maplewood State Park in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. It is organized by Health Resources Center.
The event offers several activities:
- A 7-kilometer trail run
- A 1-mile LIFE Hike
- A 200-yard dash for children aged 5-7 (Kid's Run WILD)
- A 200-yard dash for children aged 4 and under (Wee Run WILD)
The 7-kilometer trail run course includes terrain with uneven ground, mini-hills, a gravel road, moderately challenging hills, and a section known as the Ironwood Trail Hill. The 1-mile LIFE Hike is an out-and-back course. The event is described as a family-friendly occasion.
Participants in the 7-kilometer run receive a unique finisher item, referred to as a "woodallion." Awards include maple syrup for the top overall male and female finishers in the 7K. Age group awards are given for the top three male and female participants in nine different categories. All children who complete their runs receive a finisher ribbon and a gift bag.
Three water stops are available on the 7-kilometer course. First aid kits are located at these stops, and an EMT with an AED is present at the event. Participants receive a day pass for park parking as part of their registration. The use of strollers and pets is not permitted on the race course for safety reasons.
