Hustle For Habitat

Hustle For Habitat is the third annual event organized by the Pelican River chapter of Pheasants Forever at Dunvilla Trap Range in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota (21863 Highway 34). The event includes on-site and virtual race options and raises funds for local habitat conservation.

The event program includes these distances and options:

• Rooster Run - 5K, chip-timed, grassy trail through farmland and pollinator fields
• 1 Mile Strut - 1 mile fun run/walk, grassy trail, not timed, participation award
• Combo option - both 5K and 1 Mile for a single reduced fee
• Virtual options - Rooster Run 5K and 1 Mile Strut may be completed remotely

The Rooster Run 5K is chip-timed. Awards are given to Overall Winners (Men and Women) and to the top three finishers by specified age categories. Runners registered before July 17, 2026, will receive a race t-shirt.

The course is described as more of a trail route than a road race, with grassy sections, farmland, a river view, and pollinator fields; part of the route now uses a gravel road. For 2026 the route will have additional directional signage, more porta potties reserved, and extra copies of the map and schedule available at registration.

Proceeds from the event support local habitat conservation projects and the Conservation Education program, which promotes public appreciation of wildlife habitat and benefits such as clean water, clean air, and soil protection. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
