Running Scared 5K/13K - Colorado Springs
This Halloween-themed running event takes place at Cottonwood Creek Park in Colorado Springs on 10/18/2026 and offers both in-person and virtual participation options. Costumes are encouraged and the event includes seasonal, Halloween-oriented elements.
Distances offered:
- 5K, in-person and virtual
- 13K, in-person and virtual
- 18K, Deadly Double combining 5K and 13K
All in-person athletes receive a long-sleeve race shirt and a custom finisher medal. The Deadly Double requires completing the 5K and then returning within 30 minutes to start the 13K for an 18K total; Deadly Double finishers earn an additional finisher medal. Virtual participants can run where and when they choose, submit their time, and receive mailed race swag; mailings are limited to the Continental US.
Awards are presented for the Top Three Male and Female Overall finishers in both the 5K and 13K, and for the Top Three in Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Masters overall categories. Age-group awards are given to the top three athletes in each traditional five-year age group for both distances. The Deadly Double also receives special recognition for the Top Three Male and Female finishers who complete both races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
