The Running of the Squares Lake Sumter Landing is scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2026 in The Villages, FL (32162). The event is a 5K (3.1 mile) fun run on a new course for 2026. A course map is available as a downloadable PDF.
Registration and packet pick up
Pre-registration is $25 through January 4; registration after January 4 and on race day is $40. The registration fee includes a t-shirt and a registration packet; t-shirts are available while supplies last. The first 1,400 registrants receive a custom Lake Sumter Landing 5K race bib. Pre-registered packet pick up is on Friday, January 9 at La Hacienda Regional Center, 1200 Avenida Central, The Villages, FL 32159. Race day packet pick up will be available next to the finish line by Canal Street and Old Mill Run.
Course rules and awards
In-line skates, bounce boots, skateboards, and dogs on leashes are not allowed on the course. Participants pushing baby joggers or strollers must start at the back of the starting coral and accept responsibility for safety. Participants who have not finished within 70 minutes may be asked to move to the sidewalk so roads can be reopened. All finishers receive a custom event finisher medal. Overall awards will be given for first place in men’s and women’s categories. Age group awards run from 14 and under, then five-year increments to 90+.
