Child Abuse Awareness 5K

The Child Abuse Awareness 5K is a community event organized by the Tavares Police Charity. The event takes place in Wooton Park, located in Tavares, Florida. This 5K is held during Child Abuse Awareness month to highlight the importance of prevention and education regarding physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, as well as neglect.

Local law enforcement agencies frequently collaborate with the Child Advocacy Center, the Department of Children and Families, and Guardian ad Litem programs to address these issues. The event serves as a platform for survivors and supporters to gather at the park. Participants and community members can observe the race and support those crossing the finish line.

A percentage of the proceeds from the event is designated for child abuse prevention and education initiatives. These funds are processed through the Mt. Dora Community Trust. The event features a single distance:

  • 5K Run/Walk (3.1 miles)

The registration for this event is open to the public for a fee. The course is situated within the park grounds at 100 E Ruby St. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
