Event Overview
The Running of the Bears 5K is a 3.1-mile running and walking event held at Clark's Bears in Lincoln, New Hampshire.
Race Details
The route starts and finishes at Merlin's Mystical Mansion inside the park. The course goes north to the Anaconda Escape, uses Connector Road and Route 112 (Main Street), passes the Lin-Wood Public Schools, and returns through Clark's parking lot. There is one water station about halfway along the route. A unique rule states that each participant must race with a teddy bear to qualify. Strollers are allowed but must position at the end of the starting lineup for safety.
Registration & Fees
- 5K distance. Online registration is $30 for ages 11 and up, and $15 for ages 4-10. It includes a technical fabric T-shirt and a Clark's Bears tote bag with water. Registration closes at noon on June 26, 2026. T-shirt sizes are guaranteed if registered by June 6, 2026. Day-of-race registration is available from 7:00 am to 7:45 am at the Picnic Pavilion for $35 (ages 11+), with the child rate remaining $15.
Schedule & Logistics
Check-in and bib pickup occur at the Railroad Station entrance from 7:00 am to 7:45 am on race day. The race begins at 8:00 am and proceeds regardless of weather. Parking is free in the north end of the Main Parking lot near the water tower. Restrooms are available inside the park at the Anaconda Escape and Riverbank Restrooms.
Awards & Timing
The awards ceremony starts at 9:00 am at the picnic pavilion. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and top three female runners. Medals are given to the top male and female runner in each age category. Additional fun awards are given for categories like biggest bear and best costume. Race timing results will be available for download from Millenium Running.
Beneficiary
All proceeds from the event benefit the Linwood Ambulance Service, a volunteer-based nonprofit providing emergency medical services to Lincoln and Woodstock, New Hampshire. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
