The route begins on service and cat tracks, moves to technical singletrack, and then follows ski slopes for much of the ascent. The race is part of regional mountain running circuits and has hosted USA Mountain Running Championships. A special Upper Walking Boss prize purse of $1,500 is awarded to the three fastest men and women on that segment, with timing mats placed at the bottom of that section and at the finish. The stated registration fee is $70 and no day of registration is offered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
