Running Free 4 Miler
The Running Free 4 Miler is the 12th annual community race held on September 20, 2026 at Eagle River High School in Eagle River, Alaska. The in-person event is a 4 mile out-and-back course that runs from Eagle River High School to Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, includes a loop around the facility on the security road, and returns to the high school. An aid station on the course is staffed by participants from the inside program, who will also be present in the yard to cheer runners.
A virtual option offers the same 4 mile distance. Virtual participants may upload multiple 4 mile laps completed during the event period; results for the virtual event are ranked first by number of laps completed and second by time as a tie breaker. A special award is given to the virtual participant who completes the most laps.
Registration for both the in-person and virtual events opens on June 1, 2026 and closes on September 21, 2026. The listed registration fee for each entry is $40.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
