The in-person course is an out-and-back route from Eagle River High School to Hiland Mountain Correctional Center, including a loop around the facility on the security road before returning to the high school. The event takes place at Eagle River High School, 8701 Wolf Den Dr., Eagle River, AK 99577.
Participants from an inside program will cheer from the yard and will staff the aid station on course. The in-person entry fee is $40. Registration for the in-person event opens May 31, 2027 and closes September 20, 2027.
A virtual option mirrors the distance of the in-person race at 4 miles. Virtual participants may upload as many 4 mile laps as they complete during the virtual event period. Results for the virtual challenge are ranked first by number of laps completed, with elapsed time used as the tie breaker. The virtual entry fee is $40. The virtual challenge includes the "Run Like Sarah" award, given to the virtual participant who completes the most 4 mile laps during the virtual event period. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
