Running for Water for Africa 5K
The event at Walnut Beach Pavilion in Milford, CT on October 3, 2026, includes timed and untimed running and walking options and a free kids run for ages 12 and under.

- 1 mile untimed walk with beach and boardwalk views
- 200 yards free kids run for ages 12 and under
The 5K course is primarily flat with one minor incline near the start and begins and ends close to the beach. Participants in the timed 5K must complete the entire course to be scored and must use their issued bib. The one-mile walk is untimed and non-competitive. The kids run covers about one tenth of a mile; children receive a finisher award and parents may accompany them.
Registration opens in April and closes on October 2. Pre-registration fees are generally $30 for ages 19 and over and $20 for ages 18 and under; fees are higher on race day. Pre-registration by late September guarantees shirt size; after that sizes are available as supplies remain. There is plentiful parking in the beach lot. Snacks, water, a raffle with local gift certificates, and post-event refreshments are provided.
The event raises funds for a water project in Kazuru Village, Uganda, to build a 100,000-liter storage tank and a 10 kilometer gravity-fed distribution system.
